Nice work, Brayt!. Are you going to give up on the good ‘ole 15K classic and become a sprint specialist?

I made a Ski Team press release. Excellent. As it pointed out Newell and Koos decided to not race the heats (or Vidar decided for them), though they were good enough to put on bibs over their warm-ups and ski very slowly around the course.

I benefited quite a bit from the fact that Koos decided not to race the quarters. After my blazing fast prelim round, I was up against Koos, Bird, Rodgers, Marshall Greene and Jens (who happens to be my coach). Since Koos was just skiing I only had beat Colin to make it through as opposed to beating Colin and either Kris or Torin (which would have been much more difficult). So I was the recipient of some lucky seeding, though I like to think of it as good planning on my part. It also helped that I had the fastest skis in the race. ZR1 is pretty much the grind for racing down at the legal limit (or below, next time you have a really cold Keski, Jon.)

Speaking of the cold, this belongs in the last discussion, but I’m a little lazy… The post-race hack is definintely a little harsher and nastier after racing at -5 than I remember it being from racing at +10. Tom, I forgot about that race in Canada at camp, I guess Saturday would have been the third cancelled because of cold then. I did remember SLU carnival…

Sunday we did the 10/10 pursuit which was a decent start to the season, but not quite comparable to today.

I don’t think I’m ready to become a specialist yet, though there is the scary possibility that I’ve nearly clinched a World Cup sprint start. Yikes!
