I hate David Blaine.

Johnny Knoxville can do anything David Blaine can do and then get punched in the balls. That’s why he’s so much cooler.

From BBC News

“The current record stands at eight minutes, 58 seconds, but freedivers have held their breath for up to 15 minutes by breathing in pure oxygen. That is how the BFA believes Blaine will pull off his stunt.”

Once you know how he’s going to do it, it isn’t even remotely impressive.

We flipped to David Blaine a couple of times during the 24 commercials, and it was pretty painful watching. Mostly dream sequences, because watching someone float in a water bubble doesn’t really make for fascinating TV. And poor Stuart Scott. They pull him off of Sports Center in an effort to make it interesting, and all that happens is I feel bad for the guy that he is stuck in such a charade.

I don’t feel that strongly about Blaine. This is his job… he didn’t make himself into the MOST interesting personna, but there are a lot of people out there who have created less interesting jobs for themselves.

That said, if he has so many supposed skills, why doesn’t he do something more entertaining or thrilling? It seems that his stunts mostly involve waiting. A more appropriate title might be “Very patient man with a lot of willpower” instead of “illusionist.”

That doesn’t have the same ring to it though.
