Bill Carty, Cosmo Catalano, Jon Shea, Scott Meek, Joran Elias, Kat Anderson and Tom Temple are alumni of Dartmouth College.
Bill Carty is a rickshaw driver from the town of Condom in southern France. He makes his living shuttling tourists to and from the big “CONDOM” sign, so they can have their pictures taken next to it.
Cosmo Catalano, 24, originally from Williamstown, MA, is a technical writer at a software company in Cambridge, MA. He’s had worse jobs, he can tell you that much.
Scott Meek, 25, of Simsbury, CT is in pursuing a graduate degree in Organic Chemistry at MIT . He works in the lab of Tim Swager
Jon Shea, 25, of Pittsford, NY is pursuing a graduate degree in Space Physics in the Thayer School of Engineering at Dartmouth College.
Tom Temple (public key), 25, of Clifton Park, NY is taking a break from Aerospace grad school at MIT to start a consulting company in Boston.

how does one gain ability to introduce posts rather than just commenting, or to clarify, how does one get elevated to status of author?

One of the “publishers” can do that for you. I only have “managing editor” clearance, so can’t create new accounts (even though I’m allowed to change the look of the blog). Jon, Tom, Cosmo, Joran, Michael and a few others can set you up. Tom probably has the most time right now…
